Inside the cow sculpture is a fully functioning kaleidoscope. The cow is carved out of laminated cherry. Cherry was chosen for the inset legs as well as the tops of the turning object chamber . Contrasting walnut was used on the base along with bubinga knobs that secure the kaleidoscope.

Remove the two knobs on the back of the cow and the kaleidoscope portion can slide out. The object chambers use oil to slow the tumbling of the stained, blown, and dichoic glass.

2 different themes and color schemes are reflected in the way the object chamber have been filled. The first chamber is filled with lighter and primary colors and images of cows.

The 2nd object chamber iis filled with more dichroic glass and colors of pastel palate are chosen to contrast with multi-colored strand glass and blown and molded glass.

Octagon shaped tops were chosen for object chambers tops to match the 2 mirror 8 point 16 fold system.

Octagon shaped kaleidoscope images are among the most rich and symmetrical because of multiple levels of symmetry.
